37 AS pilot physician paves way for women in aviation
U.S. Air Force Maj. Sandra Salzman, 37th Airlift Squadron pilot-physician, poses for a photo at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Feb. 24, 2023. Salzman is one of 10 pilot-physicians in the Air Force, and is the only woman in her position. She joined the Virginia Air National Guard in 2001 as an enlisted mechanic and commissioned as a pilot later in her career.
