Chief Master Sergeant BILL L. SMITH

Chief Master Sergeant Bill L. Smith is the Command Chief for the 128th Air Refueling Wing, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is responsible for the 128 ARW enlisted Airmen’s expeditionary readiness, professional development, effective utilization, mission effectiveness, and quality of life. He directs all base enlisted recognition and professional development programs and advises the commander on all matters affecting the health, morale, welfare, discipline, and fitness of enlisted personnel. He provides guidance and expertise in enlisted force leadership of nearly 900 military members.

Chief Smith enlisted in the active-duty Air Force in October 1986 and served three years as an Avionics Instruments Systems Specialist on KC135 and B52 aircraft while stationed at K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base (AFB), Mich. In 1989, he Palace Chased to the Wisconsin Air National Guard joining the 128th Air Refueling Wing. Chief Smith served in many capacities, to include aircraft Avionics Technician, Quality Assurance Inspector, Production Supervisor, Maintenance Flight Chief, and Maintenance Superintendent. Prior to his current position, Chief Smith was the Component Maintenance Flight Superintendent, 128 MXG, Gen. Mitchell IAP, Milwaukee, Wis.

For over 36 years Chief Smith has served in the USAF and ANG. During this time, he participated in operations DESERT SHIELD, NORTHERN WATCH, DENY FLIGHT, JOINT FORGE, NOBLE EAGLE, ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, UNIFIED PROTECTOR, and others.
